Computer Performance - Cleaning Up Your Computer With CCleaner
Cleaning Up The Rest
Yes there is more!
In order to optimize my computer and clear space on my hard drive, I have used a FREE program called CCleaner. With CCleaner you are able to do most of the optimizations already explained as well as much more. You can download this freeware from www.ccleaner.com.
It is a system optimization and privacy tool, which removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it contains NO Spyware or Adware!
CCleaner cleans the following:
- Internet Explorer - Temporary files, URL history, cookies, Autocomplete form history, index.dat.
- Firefox - Temporary files, URL history, cookies, download history.
- Opera - Temporary files, URL history, cookie
- Windows - Recycle Bin, Recent Documents, Temporary files and Log files.
- Registry cleaner - Advanced features to remove unused and old entries, including File Extensions, ActiveX Controls, ClassIDs, ProgIDs, Uninstallers, Shared DLLs, Fonts, Help Files, Application Paths, Icons, Invalid Shortcuts and more… also comes with a comprehensive backup feature.
- Third-party applications - Removes temp files and recent file lists (MRUs) from many apps including Media Player, eMule, Kazaa, Google Toolbar, Netscape, MS Office, Nero, Adobe Acrobat, WinRAR, WinAce, WinZip and many more..
The first time I used CCleaner, I was absolutely SHOCKED that it had cleaned just about 2gb of garbage off my computer!!!!! I am confident that you will have the same results and your computer will speed up just from THIS part of the maintenance.
CCleaner also allows you to fix any broken registers you might have in your computer and take programs off your startup procedure!
Sometimes when you have installed programs, you might not know it but they have attached themselves to the startup procedure. So every time you start your computer, you have these programs running in the background! This also uses up TONS of resources!
Use the CCleaner to check your startup and delete them from the startup procedure. Don’t worry! You are not deleting them from your computer! The program is still on your computer and still fully functional. It just won’t be starting up when you start your computer each time.
